VISIT CASTLES IN PERTHSHIRE
There are a number of spectacular gardens in Perthshire within easy reach of Milton Cottage B&B which are open to the public for most of the summer months or on special opening days. The lists below give the dates. These gardens are all part of Scotland's Garden Scheme where some or all entrance fees are given to charity. ARDVORLICH, Lochearnhead - 7th May to 4th June
Beautiful glen with rhododendrons grown in wild conditions amid oaks and birches. Quite steep in places - gum boots adviseable when wet. Dogs on a lead please.
BOLFRACKS, Aberfeldy - 1st April to 31st October
Overlooking Tay valley walled garden with borders of trees, shrubs & perennials. Burn garden with rhododendrons, azaleas, primulas, meconpsis etc. in woodland setting. Bulbs in spring, good autumn colour. No dogs. Some plants for sale. NB Slippery steps.

DRUMMOND GARDENS, Muthill - 1st May to 31st October
Originally laid out in 1630 by John Drummond, in 1830 the parterre was changed to an Italian style. Multi-faceted sun dial. Largest formal garden in Scotland. Teas, raffle, entertainments, stalls.

Mature woodland garden, water and walled garden. Year round interest: stewartia in July, lacecap hydrangeas and eucryphias in August and September. Intense autumn colours.
SCONE PALACE, Perth - 1st April to 31st October
Extensive, well laid out grounds & magnificent pinetum (1848), a Douglas fir raised from seed sent from America in 1824. Woodland garden, walks with rhododendrons, azaleas, leadi to Monks' Playgreen & Friar's Den of former Abbey. Murray Star beech maze.
